DEAN'S AWARDS : 2008 RECIPIENTS
Ninety-one engineering students from the University of New South Wales Faculty of Engineering were honoured for outstanding academic performance at the 2008 UNSW Engineering Dean’s Awards. Acting Dean of Engineering Professor Dianne Wiley congratulated the award winners - students who had ranked among the top 2 per cent of the Faculty – in a ceremony held at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) on March 14. The event was sponsored by Parsons Brinckerhoff, with the company represented on the evening by Mr Mark Dimmock, who also addressed the award winners. Among the 91 award recipients were students from School of Chemical Sciences and Engineering: Michael James Hoddinett, stage 1 Jor How Low, stage 1 Pesila Udayabhadra Ratnayake, stage 1 Kit Mei Wong, stage 1 Denny, stage 2 Benedict O'Meara White, stage 2 Erin Nicole Wright, stage 2 Meganne Louise Christian, stage 3 Say Yei Foo, stage 3 Ka Yu Karrie Kam, stage 3 Arman Soetanto, stage 3 Yossy Wicaksana, stage 3 Multiple award winner was Industrial Chemistry student Meganne Christian, whose academic excellence won her a Dean’s Award for the second year running. Meganne, 20, is a UNSW Co-Op Scholarship student and is now doing one year of industry training with BlueScope Steel in Wollongong. “Having an award like this definitely adds to your sense of achievement – it’s important and it is fulfilling,” Meganne said. Professor Wiley said the quality of the students receiving awards was very impressive. “I’m confident that these students will go on to provide leadership in their careers and communities,” she said. |
