2009 R K Murphy Award - UNSW Scientia Professor Neil Foster
 | |
Scientia Professor Neil Foster is one the leading international research figures in the frontier technologies of Gas Expanded Liquids (GXLs) and supercritical fluids (SCFs), with seminal contributions in the area of SCF-assisted processing of materials for pharmaceutical applications. In recent years, Neil has focused his research efforts on the field of nanoparticle and microparticle formation in supercritical fluid solvents with particular applications to the pharmaceutical area. Of particular note are his developments in the area of nanomedicine, where he has recognised the potential impact of nanoparticles for novel therapies. He has been able to bridge the gap between fundamental studies and the commercial application of supercritical fluid particle formation technology. Recently, Uniseed has agreed to invest A$750,000 in BioParticle Technologies Pty Ltd, a start-up company established to commercialise the IP developed by Neil and his research team.
