The Teaching Reference Group exists to discuss issues in teaching and learning within the school and, where possible, make school policy recommendations to the Head of School. Issues of a more significant or potentially controversial nature are brought to the School Staff meeting after discussion within the TRG. The TRG is composed of those academics with administrative teaching resposibilities within the school, plus any others who may be interested. The administrative roles in teaching currently include:

Issues resolved in the recent past include:
- implementation of modifications to first year camp to encourage attendance as part of ENGG1000
- development of school policy on UF grades and supplementary examination for multiple pass criteria courses
- implementation of scaling within CE and IC electives as a way of addressing honours creep
- revision of FOOD programs structure
- implementation of a program in Food Process Engineering

Issues currently on the agenda include:
- continued monitoring of honours grades
- identification of teaching improvement projects
- pilot for implementation of distance mode teaching
- revision of school workload model
- revisions to postgraduate and undergraduate programs to reduce timetabling and administrative complexity
